Dates: September/October 2017
Age: 73
Route: Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port to Finisterre
Distance: 856 km (532 miles)
“To celebrate my 74th birthday, I walked the Camino. A world traveling tourist, this would be my first true adventure. I had no clue how to go about it, simply the long wished for the experience. No group tour, I wanted the luxury of freedom AND security.
Enter Rebecca, not only personally experienced in the trek, her background in teaching was that edge I was looking for…experience and organization.
She instructed on the importance of the back pack: size, what I’d need and how much (which was very little and quick to dry).
She encouraged at home training.
Experienced in international flights, I welcomed her tips on destinations and cost saving.
On arrival, I had a leg issue and she found EU medical care immediately. (Excellent care, inexpensive, btw).
There were other medical issues later; she addressed them by introducing me to their amazing pharmacies, explaining how they work—which is not at all like US. This was the security I needed.
How-to navigate the Camino was important because of my age.
She previewed the next day’s distance by incline and distance. The greater the incline, the shorter the distance.
Because it wasn’t a pre-plotted trek, where to stay required knowledge of availability and speaking Spanish. She had the tools I needed.
A distance into the walk, I decided, if possible, I didn’t want to carry my pack. Rebecca made arrangements through the postal system to take my bag to the next stop! It was always there when I arrived. I carried a day pack with rain gear - that I needed more than a few times - water, snacks, band aids.
Arriving in Santiago 42 days after first setting foot to path was an amazing event but it was going on to Finisterre and Muxia where the full impact of what I’d accomplished hit me. I’d walked clear across a country, Spain! Thanks to Rebecca, I had truly experienced the adventure as a personal accomplishment. The days were individual to my desires. The accomplishment was mine. Wounded feet proved I’d walked every step of the way, my way. Those crashing waves at Muxia remain a spiritual milestone.
The whole experience, thanks to Rebecca, has been life changing. At 83, I’m still walking 5 miles most days; they remain an adventure.”

Camino Primitivo
Services: Pre-Trip Planning and Weekly Trip Support
Dates: August, 2024
Age: 65
Route: Oviedo to Santiago de Compostela
Distance: 320 km (193 miles)
“I walked the 193 mile Camino Primitivo in Spain this past August. It is said to be the most beautiful and hardest Camino of them all. I chose it because it is the original path and winds through the mountains. To say this was a magnificent journey is an understatement.
I began it on my 40th anniversary of being clean and sober. I am 65. I had never traveled internationally by myself before and was quite concerned about doing so. A mutual friend suggested I contact Rebecca for information on the Way and all the details one may encounter.
In 2 conversations with her, I went from afraid to psyched. She helped talk me through all the aspects of the venture that were overwhelming me:
where to fly into
how to get to the trailhead with public transport
accommodations
food
dealing with language issues
even how to deal with my lack of an international calling plan.
She made it feel totally doable and I booked my flight and made preparations.
This journey for me was to be a true pilgrimage as I’d just had devastating news and knew I needed a deep experience to help me cope. Rebecca’s guidance was heartfelt and included hearing my intentions and checking in with me during and after the walk. I recall one particular exchange we had just after I arrived in Santiago. I felt like she was right there with me and she totally got my intense emotions at the time.
This is no tour guide. This is a real person who has been there and really wants people to experience the magic of the Way.
I can honestly say I would not have gone if it weren’t for her kind and generous help.
It was a profoundly deep spiritual and healing experience for me and I will hold it in gratitude forever. Rebecca is providing an important service to the world and I cannot recommend her enough.”
